Whispen (“we”, “us” or “our”) operates the Whispen PDF Reader application (the “Service”). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our Service.

• User ID (assigned by Firebase Authentication)

• Which PDF files you open
• Selected theme and language preferences
• Ambient sounds played
• Timestamp of each session

1.3 Local Data

We store certain data locally on your device to improve performance and enable offline features:

• Downloaded ambient sound files (in IndexedDB)
• Recent files list (localStorage)
• Theme & language selections (localStorage)

2. How We Use Your Information

• To authenticate and authorize your access (via Firebase Authentication)
• To store and retrieve your preferences and downloaded audio
• To improve Service performance and personalize your experience
• To send you optional notifications about updates or changes (if enabled)
• To comply with legal obligations

3. Data Storage & Security

• Firebase: Personal data (email, UID) are stored securely on Firebase servers with industry-standard encryption.
• IndexedDB & localStorage: Local data is stored in your browser; no personal data is stored here.
• We use HTTPS for all network communication.
• We implement administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect your data.

4. Data Sharing & Disclosure

We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal information to third parties. We may share information with:

• Our service providers (e.g., Firebase) under strict confidentiality obligations.
• When required by law or to respond to lawful requests (e.g., court orders).

5. Cookies & Tracking

Whispen does not use cookies for tracking. We rely on browser storage mechanisms (localStorage, IndexedDB) only for functionality and preferences.

6. Your Rights

• Access: You can view your account email in-app or via your Firebase profile.
• Deletion: You may delete your account at any time. This will erase all personal data from our servers.

7. Children’s Privacy

Whispen is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 13. If you believe we have inadvertently done so, please contact us to delete that information.

8. International Transfers

Your data may be processed in countries outside your own. We take appropriate measures to ensure a similar level of protection as required by your local law.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy periodically. We will notify you by posting a new “Last updated” date. Continued use after changes indicates acceptance.
